EARTHQUAKE RELIEF EFFORTS

May 12, 2008

On Monday, May 12, 2008, a major earthquake measuring 7.9 on the Richter scale jolted southwestern China’s Sichuan Province. Over 69,000 people were killed and more than 370,000 were injured in the tragedy. The earthquake left an estimated five million people homeless.

On Monday, May 19, 2008, Howard H. Li, former Commissioner of The President’s Advisory Commission on Asian American and Pacific Islanders, personally donated $30,000 (equivalent to HK$200,000) to the Sichuan China Earthquake Relief Fund through The Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in New York. Mr. Li presented the $30,000 donation to Ambassador Peng Keyu.

Being the CEO & Chairman of the Waitex Group, Howard Li has also encouraged thousands of his employees to help the earthquake victims – Mr. Li promises to match every dollar donated by his employees to the earthquake relief fund. Mr. Li has collected over $100,000 in donations and continues to urge everyone to continue contributing to this noble cause.

Howard Li is also responsible for the organization of multiple international carriers to provide merchandise and services for the earthquake relief efforts. This is the worst natural disaster to hit China in 30 years. Please feel free to contact us on partnerships and donations or how your company can help.
