President’s Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders

In January 2006, president George W. Bush appointed Howard H. Li to serve as a Commissioner of the President’s Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. Mr. Li also serves as the Co-Chair of the Business Development Committee within the commission.



Ellis Island Medal of Honor

Mr. Howard Li was selected to receive the 2001 Ellis Island Medal of Honor. The medal is presented to outstanding American citizens from all walks of life who have distinguished themselves among their specific ethnic groups. Past Ellis Island Medal of Honor recipients have included six U.S. Presidents and many Senators, such as George Bush, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, Hillary Rodham Clinton, Gerald Ford, Richard Nixon, John McCain, and George Pataki. The recipients are read into the congressional record.



U.S. Dept. of Commerce MBDA National Director’s Pioneer Award

Mr.Howard Li was selected by US Department of Commerce (MBDA) to receive this prestigious Award in recognition as an individual whose leadership has helped lay the foundation for the development of new and emerging market business endeavors for minority enterprises. The Award also honors his commitment to socio-economic and entrepreneurial growth, that preserves the spirit of the diversity, innovation, and entrepreneurship that is intrinsic to a stable worldwide economy.



National MED Week 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005 Appreciation Award

U.S. Department of Commerce’s Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) sincerely thanked Mr. Li and Waitex International Co., Ltd. for their support and interest in promoting the growth of minority-owned businesses as Co-Chair of MED Week Conference. Mr. Li’s continued support has contributed greatly to 20th to 23rd Annual National Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week activities.



International Leadership Award

Mr. Li was presented an International Leadership Award in recognition of his great achievements by the Secretary of Labor, the Honorable Elaine L. Chao, and the Secretary of Transportation, Norman Y. Mineta, from the International Leadership Foundation.



Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of The Year Award Finalist

Mr. Howard Li was selected as a finalist of New York City’s and New Jersey’s Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of The Year for 2001 and 2002. This is a prestigious honor for the most successful and innovative entrepreneurs and award for business leaders. The program was founded and produced by Ernst & Young, sponsored by CNN, Nasdaq, USA Today, Citigroup, Marsh, Kauffman Center, Scherzer & CO. and Business Now.

U.S. Chinese Chamber of Commerce

Founded by Mr. Howard H. Li, The U.S. Chinese Chamber of Commerce is a group of Chinese-American entrepreneurs and leaders of well-known Chinese businesses consisting of 30 organization members and over 500 corporation members. The main objective is to unify the Chinese-American business elite to develop Chinese business community and economic globalization.

This prestigious non-profit organization is established in 1996. It represents the business and cultural interests of the top 500 largest companies in Mainland China who have a branch in the United States. This organization is supported by China’s central government. Its mission is to promote Chinese and U.S. trade, Sino-American relationships, increase networking among cooperation to promote global economic development.

China Overseas Friendship Association

The Vice-Chairman of the People’s Political Consultative Committee of the People’s Republic of China has established China Overseas Friendship Association to reach out to overseas Chinese to increase networking, foster unity, exchange ideas and promote business. This committee consults the central government of China about economic reform and social development in the global network.

The New York Local Retirement Systems provides coverage in the form of service retirement to police, firefighters, teachers, sheriffs and other public servants. The Common Retirement Fund is valued at over $100 billion.

United Way of New York City’s predecessor organization, The Greater New York Fund, was founded in 1938 “for the purpose of making one annual city-wide financial appeal to organized business and its employees on behalf of the private social welfare and health agencies in New York City”. This organization receives over $100 million annually.
